"Patricio Ginelsa's PINOY SIGHTINGS video truly awakened the crowd with how truly stereotyped Filipinos are in overall popular media coverage. While this is an effective tool in highlighting to others that we are not one homogenous group of people, it is also enlightening to the students who had doubts within themselves as to how 'Filipino' they truly were. It helped them to realize that there is a tendency to identify "Filipino" within one definition and in doing so, excluding oneself from that definition. I think that now they can walk away saying that being Filipino is more than fitting into the parameters of a stereotype that was not even created by Filipinos."

"PINOY SIGHTINGS made me realize a couple things not only about the media's portrayal of Pilipinos but my own as well. I've seen most of the clips Patricio features in their own context and always laughed them off without thinking twice about them. PINOY SIGHTINGS combines these portrayals in a confrontational collection that made me aware that the demeaning and stereotypical portrayal of Pilipinos is an issue that the youth need to be concerned about so they too can bring about truth, dignity, and change to the image of the Pilipino and Pilipino American community in the media."

"Patricio Ginelsa's PINOY SIGHTINGS presentation was a real eye opener. As if the invisibility of the Pilipino-American community in mainstream American media is not already bad enough, Ginelsa illustrated, through a montage of various video clips collected from film and television sources, that the little exposure Pilipino Americans do receive in the media are full of stereotypes. However, it was not completely depressing. He also showcased some of his own work, and talked about how he and other artists are continuously striving for more representation and exposure in the media. A very fun and informative presentation that sparked a lot of healthy discussion among the youth.."
